A digital 3d model based on the sword from the film 'Conan the Barbarian' (1982) although with a longer blade than that one. Apparently they made it short so that it would fit in poster images and the like, but overall it could have done with being longer in order to be proportionate. The original design was by Ron Cobb, I believe, who also designed many of the impressive stage sets and other visuals in the film.
