It has been a while since I did a redesign of a public domain character so I moseyed over to Public Domain Super Heroes! [link] and discovered Rip Regan the Power-Man [link] !

Here is what I worked from…

“Rip Regan, publicly known as Power Man, has a magic red jacket which, when worn, gives him super-strength and enables him to perform superhuman leaps. He uses these powers to fight evil and uphold justice. It was never revealed where and how Power Man found his jacket.”

Not much to work from but a red magic jacket. Which is funny, because the character is not wearing a jacket in the accompanying pic just a long sleeve shirt [link] .

Here’s my quick revamp, after a name change to POWERHOUSE (Power-Man sounds generic):

“Private Rip Regan is separated from his unit during a rainy night ambush in the forests of France during World War II. Amidst the exploding shells, Regan finds shelter in small cave. In the cave he finds the remains of long dead extraterrestrial. Putting on the jacket of the alien, as his own fatigues were worse for wear and soaking wet, Rip Regan found that he has become impervious to bullets and grenades when Nazi soldiers discovered his hiding place. In addition to invulnerability, Rip’s found that his strength had exponentially increased as he threw aside an enemy tank and discovered that he could leap hundreds of feet into the air when he downed a Messerschmitt Bf 109 that was strafing the field which the remaining member of his unit were fleeing across.

His heroic actions earned him the moniker POWERHOUSE and a unique role on the frontlines. Clad in red fatigues with his glowing jacket, Powerhouse, shrugging off the barrage of fire that his uniform drew, lead the charge in a number of battles around the world.”

I decided on a red soldier uniform to accompany the character as the fatigue green one that I originally tried made him look like a WWII Michael Jackson with his flashy red jacket.
