I think this appropriately represents gamer's opinion of him.
To be perfectly honest, the trouble with him, that other gamer's had, never happened to me...due to me, actually taking the time to read his long winded exposition! Lets just say, I had experience with other zelda characters similiar to Gaebora before even meeting him the first time.

When I met headmaster Gaebora, in Skyward Sword, I was afraid that he'll start saying long bouts of exposition, followed by a "do you want to hear it again?" "yes" "no thanks" with the curser immmediately placed on "yes". While he did have kinda long bouts of exposition in Skyward Sword, it was never followed up with a "did you get all of that?" choice. Also his exposition in kinda funny seeing as his daughter Zelda, berates him for telling them stuff that Link and Zelda already know and going off on tangents.
