An enchanting, yet at the same time a bit quirky painting! The seagull is a curious choice of a companion, however, the bird does make the view even more bewitching. I wonder, what is the girl thinking of, having chosen such an uncommon place for contemplation...

But if that shoe fell in that bay... Well lets just say she'd be better off kicking the other one off as well and make way to the uniform store. However from that high a height it may have fell to the ground where she may have the chance of finding it.

um... sure she cud have put the sock somewhere else and could walk shoeless to a shop maybe. The lil story seems plausable

So simple yet so... inspiring. The lines are so clean, so well-placed and there's a lot going on in this scene ... even though it's a very simple yet captivating composition.
For example -- he lost foot. Kind of makes one think about where/how she lost it getting up there. And what about the girl's background? Obviously it's her favourite perch, escaping the busy world (being a school chic) and this is where she goes to relax ... and she gets a friend too up there.
I think the reason I'm drawn to this is because as a kid I used to climb this really large, tall tree to get to the "top, top" roof of a giant rice granary we had in our backyard. Me and my brothers and sisters used to have picnics on that roof... it got so hot on some days we could fry eggs, and there was this vent/shaft with a little roof on top that we could duck into that would provide enough shade from the sun on those days (or we could perch under the shade of the tree itself).
I also had a nice view of the neighbourhood.
