open species, i have my own story and setting but use them for whatever u want

they are cat-like creatures on their own small planet orbiting a sun. they have 6 ears, spike-like legs, an 'x' mouth and a devil tail. they were not always like that. a parasite found its way onto the planet, it is not native. it prevented them from eating but they no longer feel hunger. the only 'hunger' they feel is when basking in the sun, the parasite's influence decreases and prevents them from taking over completely. the devil tail is a way to defend the host and the knife legs they always had. the planet is getting pulled into the sun, its field is too strong. over time, plants die, the planet is heating up and the parasites are having a bad time but so are the umbras (the species). its getting too hot. the parasites whip out their last resort, they are able to teleport, going through a field that they are partially made out of. the planet evacuates through these portals but the umbra are greatly damaged by the darkness that eats off them, some are dead on the other side. they cannot control where they land. currently earth is inhabiting quite a few as they are a good distance from the sun. umbras spawn in dark places and if kept in the dark, can grow into monsters. they have to sun bathe regularly. their ears are the solar panels.
since they have the potential to be anywhere they are technically and 'open species' and can be used by anyone
