since i purchased a new laptop i decided to to awallpaper again (remember? most of the stuff i do
i don't really declare as wallpapers, since they
are way too complex to just sit in the background,
they jump on you and you won't be able to find the
icons).
anyway, ddr0080 is a wallpaper, it is a rather dark
variation of the sidewinder theme. this time i did
the head of this bugger in maya, and modified it in
photoshop. the wings are from an installation i
photographed in vienna, and the background is from
a photo from an escalator i did in budapest.
you might wonder, as usual, 'gee, how did he get to
_this_ strange resolution again, 1400x1050 is really
an odd inbetweener. the solution comes quite easy,
this is the resolution my laptop is running, and
i think it should also work quite fine if you rescale
it to 1600x1200 or 1280x960 or less.
one more thing about the image contrast/brightness:
it should be fine if you callibrated your monitor,
if you don't increase the contrast to max (100%),
then adjust the brightness so that you see the image
properly.

I think there are some technical flaws in this, but the atmosphere it gives is more than enough to cover those

i'm going to disagree with ~ak-destroyer on this. i think this is beautiful work. you've certainly achieved the goal of making a wallpaper, as this is not too busy and fairly dark. i love the colors and i think this has an almost more photo-realistic sense to it compared to others....

Starting off with the bad points, or point, since there is only one: the background just doesn't look well thought out... "dahingeklatscht"
On the other hand, the head is simply awesome, quality modelling as always. THe eyes have a really authentic gloom to them, and the way the head looks partly organic, partly out of stone makes a nice contrast the the mechanic/metal like shapes behind it.
I can't recongize much of wings, but that's probably just my bad eyes
Great work, nicely dark, doesn't take too much space away on my desktop!

..heh.. I love the texture and the dark feeling.. it's pretty impressive.... however, yep - the res is really strange, but I like it much more than 1280x1024 which lots of ppl tend to use...... Just that I think the sides ratios fits to 1280x960, so it's bit stretched..?? but when this fits (IO havent counted it,just believe..) it's all right.. I think
