This drawing is fantastic !
Yet I would not have thought to Gustave Dore.
The background, the cloud, the shape of the mountain rather remind me of the fourteenth century....
But maybe I don't know enough about Gustave Dore !

omg thank you so much for saying that! Gustave Dore is my all time favorite illustrator and I was going for the style of his woodcuts in this piece. I'm so glad that somebody finally picked up on that!

Wow really good! I wish my art teacher would teach us something instead of hiding behind his desk. Gah all well,

I also liked how you called him "Heracles" and not "Hercules".

Oh and If I ever had to grab my dog like that, I wouldn't have hands right now... XD

unbelievable work! Im really speechless..the movement in this picture is astounding, especially in the grass. Every muscle is so defined, and your a shading expert!

Wow, this is very impressive! You did a great job building the tones, I'm sure it took forever. I love how you made it look very neo-classical. The perspective and BG are great, the figures, their poses and expressions (as well as the actions) are fantastic, and really, this piece is just awesome.

The only critique I think I can give is...hmm...I think the grass is the only aspect that bothers me, but just slightly. Everything else is very finely rendered, but that area in the right-hand corner looks like it could use a bit more attention. I can tell you may have left the grass that goes into the distance less detailed to give the illusion of depth, but there's something very...I dunno...not "lazy" about it, but it feels rushed. The grass is so detailed towards the lion's left hind leg, yet the grass around it seems very unfinished.

I just figured I'd give some critique to go along with my praise, especially since this is an AP (portfolio?) piece. A strong concentration and breadth is real important, so good luck! Keep up the awesome work. Oh, and welcome to deviantART!
