I don't have a single problem with you shipping Ed and Roy together...as long as you're smart and mature enough to see that it's a FAN-MADE pairing and will never be anything else.
No, I'm not saying that canon pairings are superior or "better" than fanon ones. Those labels shouldn't stop you from shipping anything. I just want to highlight the facts. EdWin = canon and author-approved. RoyEd = fanon and fan-created. Please don't get delusional and claim your yaoi pairing to be something it's not. Unless you're joking, of course. Otherwise, you're just making yourself look stupid.

I usually don't care much for canon pairings because well, sometimes most of them I just don't like and there is usually a better choice the the hero than the typical bestfriend or grew up together friend. I ship RoyEd because well first it started off as joking around, but then some of the fanart is really pretty so like "wow I can actually ship this legitimately." I'm not much of a FMA fan anymore.

Problem is, thE fandom of FMA has two completely different canons attached to it. In the Manga, yeah. They get married, they have kid. Happily ever after. In the Anime... Well...It gets weird. XD
So which one is canon?
I like to think they both are and we as fans have the fortunate choice of two to pick from. ^_^

Are you stupid? They are both canon, you can't ignore one for the other. They are both real. Ed married Winry in the Brotherhood/Manga canon, not the 2003 canon. Not to mention that the creator approves and helped right the original anime.

It really depends on which fullmetal alchemist you like, I like the manga because that was the original story... But some people like the first one because there is more chance of yaoi. But in all seriousness the one done by arakawa sensei is more accurate.

I think the reason people like the first anime is because it's more character based where the manga is more plot based. Honestly, I can't decide which one I like best.
Conversations about what is and isn't cannon in this fandom kinda baffle me. I mean, the manga and the first anime are so different that it may as well be an entirely different fandom all together. To me, comparing the the cannon of the manga compaired with the first anime is like comparing the cannon of Bleach compared to Naruto. They have nothing to do with each other.
