Man, Applejack was a terrible liar, at first, wasn't she?Due to getting so many answers to the "Why wasn't Pinkie as Pinkamena" question, I've decided to remove it.
Edit: Okay, seriously, I get it, Pinkamena still laughed unlike Corrupt Pinkie. Stop telling me that.

The difference between Pinkamena Diane Pie and Discorded Pie is that she hates laughter and joy, where Pinkamena can still laugh. It's just an evil version of her.

Pinkemena, or as I call her, Gloomy Pie, still laughed, she just came out because she felt she lost her friends and wasn't appreciated for her parties anymore. Discorded Pinkie Pie merely lot any ability or tolerance to laugh.

She didn't turn into Pinkamena because she didn't turn into Pinkamena, she got Discorded. Pinkamena happens when she gets all sad and pissed off her friends and stuff. She got Discorded, and hated happiness and laughter. She didn't lash at Spike when she turned into Pinkamena, but if she was Discorded at that moment instead she certainly would have.
