Knull could tell that the Klyntar symbiosis ability made them difficult for their foes to handle, so he decided to experiment a bit. He had the Symbiote Dragon Grendel act more like these offshoots, and in doing so, took over the body of the Hero Clan member Crimson Dragon. There was something that had drawn Grendel to her, and that was because a small piece of Big Mother was in her DNA, as an ancestor of hers had been in contact with the red Symbiote in the ancient past.
