Explanation:

1. Using the middle colour, make the outline. It' doesn't have to be really neat, don't worry about it.

2. Fill in the outline with the same middle colour. Fix up the outlines if it needs fixing.

3. Take a colour darker than the middle colour and shade the hair. Start at the ends and the hair part, the most shading should be at the part and the hair behind/nearest the doll's neck. I suggest copying the tutorial and zooming in to see it better.

4. Take the darkest colour and shade the middle of the hair part and right under the doll's neck. Again, I suggest zooming in to see the detail better. If you're making a large doll or one with alot of dark shading, then you can again make darker shading over, and smaller than this shading. But, this doll doesn't need it.

5. Take a colour lighter than the middle colour and make single lines for highlights. I connect lines at the shiniest part of the hair where there's no dark shading.

6. Take a colour lighter than that highlight colour and go over the highlight lines. But, only in the middle at the shiniest spots. This is where it ends for this colour pallette, but like in 4, you can add more highlighting if there's room, and the colour's not too light.

What system do you use to get the many colors?

I usually just pick the base colour then just go from there. I pick colours a few shades difference from the last colour I used.

Ohh, yes, I use mspaint for dolling. I can't stand using anything else. If you hit "colours" "edit colours" in the top bar there's a ton of colours to pick from....If you didn't know.
