Inspired when i could think of nothing to draw, by the song 'Santiago' from a Loreena McKennitt live CD.

This is two wild male linions fighting for a female. In the mating season this is what they do. There are two types of linion you see, the Wild, and the Ilvergo. It all stems from the time of Araki, for Ilvergo was Araki's Father and a twin, I forget the name of Ilvergo's twin sister, but the two ruled over the Linions when they all lived a wild and fairly nomadic existance. But they fought. Ilvergo wanted to settle the people and advance their technologies, while his sister believed they should not break their traditions, the wild traditions that kept them flourishing, in the end, they had a physical fight, but Their wiser parents broke it up and it was decided more peacefully that there should be a splitting. Those that wished to follow Ilvergo to advancement did, and those that wished to continue with the old ways stayed in the wild. Now the two types co-exist peacfully and often inter breed. Some Ilvergons turn to the wild, while some wild turn to the Ilvergon ways.

However, back on topic, In mating season, Males hormone levels increase, thier manes grow thicker and coats shinnier and they basically strut around and dance or sing or whatever they do best to attract a mate. If two males are after the same female and she can't decide who she wants, they will fight. The winner is not necessarily the one who beats the other up. Fighting brings out a males other qualities, a female can judge his character by the way he fights, and so makes her decision based on his fighting character and her character preference.

So... who shall win this fight? The handsome white markinged gold chestnut on the left? Or the handsome and more subtle Bay dancing away from the blow on the right?
