Description
So here is a fan art of the six characters of Wammy House. I believe there are strong parallels between them, so I wanted to show that with mirrors.Consider:
L/Near
- Both were number 1.
- It was stated that Near is the most Wammy Kid like L to have existed.
- Neither were killed by Kira. True, L was killed according to Light's plan, but it was done by Rem on behalf of Misa. And Near was the one to capture him.
B/Mello
- Both were completely obsessed with surpassing their respective 1's. In B's case, it was just worse, since number 1 was L himself, not a fellow copy.
- They both turned to crime when it looked like they wouldn't be able to.
- Furthermore, Mello said in the novel that his methods were inspired by B, and even called him "senpai" in Japanese, expressing his deep respect.
- They both were fated to live as they survived through serious burns.
- However, they were both killed prematurely by Kira.
- Interesting enough, they line up numerically as well. B identifies with the number "13" because he thinks it looks like the letter B. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet.
A/Matt
- Both had very little information revealed about them
- However, they were both fated to die in accordance to their usual lifespans.
-A committed suicide [and some fans speculate it had something to do with B.]
-And Matt went on a suicide mission. [For the sake of Mello's plan.]
It's interesting how history repeats itself, isn't it?

- He was probably about 13 when the LABB case was taking place.

Wow! I really love this. I love that you spotted all the parallels between Mello and Beyond.....those two really did walk the same path, it's part of the reason i ship the pair. But i never noticed all the lines between Matt and A...that's amazing and sad!

Haha, I don't get many people saying they ship Mello and B, but I have to admit that I agree with that pairing to a degree :3 Keep rockin', I'm glad I gave you something to think about!

It's such an awesome pairing! Totally uncommon... I can never find people who ship it, but with all the connections between them, it does make lots of sense.

Well when I say to a degree, means I don't really ship it in canon, because for one thing I don't think they've even met, and for another, B is probably way older than him so it would be kind of shotacon even if they did?
But if there was a panfandom RP that had B and adult Mello in it, you can bet I'd ship it like burning! /o/

Yeah, it is a bit of a stretch to ship in canon. Some argue that they were at Wammy's at the same time, but the most i could see happening if they were in wammy's together would be Mello developing some kind of admiration-respect-crush on Beyond. B would probably brush him off, though, because it WOULD be quite shotacon and B had bigger things to worry about at the time, like planning his masterpiece.
But I totally agree about the adult Mello and B

Alternate timeline, though, maybe! I haven't read a lot of Death Note fics, but ... lives to escape or be released to prison? Seriously? The book said black, charred body was UNDERSTATING it, that he was a black-red mass of flesh. Those are some really deep burns there. If it's post-novel, B is going to be profoundly unsexy, looking barely even human because of the extent of his burns. I personally don't think Mello would tap that. But it sounds like those fic authors didn't read carefully or they nerfed the damage he did to himself for the sake of the plot.... maybe it could be an alternate universe where Misora caught him a bit more quickly.

When it comes to Beyond's burns, I've seen them treated various ways. Personally I hate to see authors totally nix the scars. I myself have tweaked the continuity a tiny bit to have Misora discover him a few seconds earlier and reduce the extent. But it's also dramatic if Beyond is burned to his proper extent- he'd HAVE to have had lots of skin grafts and surgeries before he'd be functional enough to put into prison, so he wouldn't be TOTALLY burned, but he'd definitely be kind of monstrous and he'd certainly find himself ugly. The question would be whether Mello found all his monstrosity repulsive. It would be sweet if he could get over all the scarring. And besides, somehow the scars are sexy to me, even if they cover the majority of his body >.>

Hmm, yeah, since Mello already has a connection with B in some way (especially if you prefer the idea that they were well acquainted at Wammy's), it could be argued that he'd be able to get over the scars. And B DOES have that mastery in makeup, so he could kinda fix his face at least. It would definitely be an interesting situation.... haha, especially if you happen to find the scarring attractive. Anyway, I'm all for this situation, because B's entire story is heartbreaking and it'd be nice for him to have some luck :'D

And I really do like the idea that Mello and Beyond were well acquainted at Wammy's... it's never stated outright that they DIDN'T know each other back then <3
I never thought of B fixing his face with makeup before, weirdly enough, but I really like that idea. He's proficient enough to make himself look just like L... so he'd have the skills to pass for normal, even to hide his burns.
And his story IS heartbreaking and it would be great for him to have luck ^^ or someone who cared about him, and not just a distant figure to obsess over.

Hmm... I guess because I wanted A to resemble Matt (and lots of people think Matt looks like Light), but I wanted him to have a different hair color than boring black or red which is too close to Matt's.
Lots of people color A with blond hair, but in my experience and opinion, blond hair in an anime denotes main character status, and A just doesn't fit that.

If you look at the tilt of Matt's head, he's not looking at A in the face... he's focusing on his shoulder, the least interesting bit of the mirror. 8D I guess he isn't too pleased about following him, even though it's fate...
I actually think the plainness of L and Near's panel makes it all the more powerful... L keeps himself safe, but being surrounded by tragedy is in the nature of his job. Unfortunately for him it can even happen to those his heart would go out for, and sometimes for his very sake. He's always in the dead middle of it.

And yes, Nishioishin is very very tricky. However it was actually the movie "L Change the WorLd" that brought the correspondence between "13" and "M" to my attention. That movie also had a slight B reference in it, so maybe that was intentional as well.

It's the part where the little boy starts yelling "13-11! 13-11!" But the B reference is early on, where L is sending a mass email to his Wammy House contacts, "B" is all xed and greyed out, implying that he's dead by then. D':

Basically to show how the Wammy kids of the second season were parallels of their predecessors in "Another Note?"
