Freedom or Death

Isn't it ironic that many of the freedoms we enjoy today are based on hundreds of thousands of, not only deaths, but kills?Murder is a violation of one of the most basic freedoms - the freedom to exist. In order to obtain the freedom you want - you must squash another individual's freedom. So it's a vicious circle - we will never all be free. Ever.
An old Japanese story (who's name escapes me) concluded saying that when you swat a spider because it kills beautiful butterflies you become a spider yourself.
Same thing goes for freedom - kill a man to gain your liberty - you become an opressor yourself.
Confused you enough, yet?
To end things in a pleasant way, here's a quote by William Wallace, from the movie "Braveheart":
"FREEEEEDOOOOOOOOOM!!!!"

To be honest, I thought that out of all my works, this is the one I've put the most brains in. Definitely didn't think I would receive such great feedback on it, expecially since it was rejected by #EliteArtists the other day. That really got me bummed out... and now this! Maaaaan, I'm soooo happy!

I like it ,, however I don't agree with the message , you swat a spider who broke the rule , the rule that simply stating "Ur freedom ends when mine begins " , If someone take away my freedom , he deserves to be swatted , after all he started the war . If he didn't start , we'd be in peace .

it is a fruit plucked from the orchard of man,
and the trees thereof are watered by the blood
of the blessed and the damned.
as long as there are men who will kill, there will be men who must kill
we visit violence as a mean to secure our freedom on those who would deny us it.
and in doing such we thus open ourselves to reprisal.
there are very few villains in war. just men and women united for manifold agendas.
the tools of warfare are beautiful and terrible. your butterfly (beauty) made of said implements of destruction.
on a blackboard, almost like a lesson to the more idealistic of us of the daily prices being paid in blood, sweat, or both.
that death seems a bit more meaty than that freedom,
maybe freedom is the ethereal idea and death the harsh reality it feeds upon?
freedom and death the same colour? one coin two sides maybe?
funny how even a beautiful little butterfly come 'clawing' and spitting its way into this world.
tearing its right to live from the maw of existence.

I like the concept. Our world is indeed not very free. We are chained by a flawed system, and forced to become slaves to a flawed financial society. Death is more free than life in our world. Great picture, great words. I like the choice of colors, especially the red.

Very nice work. I like the symmetry of the piece, and how all the guns that make the butterfly are somewhat centered around a sole bullet - I find that to be significant, for some reason. The colors you chose deliver the message quite well, too.

This actually reminds me of a quote, which I'm pretty sure is by Socrates in the Gorgias. "It is better to suffer an injustice than to commit one." (I think the exact wording of the quote may be different, but that's the gist of it.)
