Description
Here is my first real Fraken-Ship, basically a Drake that has been modified slightly. Done in MS Paint 7, which I was trying out for the first time. It is vastly better then the older paint though it still has its shortfalls.

Basically this ship for one my new SEED stories I have been thinking about for the last few weeks as Script Frenzy was in full swing. Basically a series of short-stories based during the time between the First and Second Wars. Though thanks to the chaos theory, the changes I make due to these stories would make the Second War a little bit different then the original is. One of these stories would feature the new East Asian Space Forces, which this ship would take some part in.

NOTE: I know some of the changes are kind of off, but this is better then any of my previous Frakenships. Also the original plan had the new hatches a hanger, but realized that machines launched from their would hit the new gun turrets on the side not even counting the hull it self. Therefore the addition of a ventral hanger and catapult.
NOTE 2: The new hatch is not really the original hatch from the ship but a modified one from the Lesseps.

When the Republic of East Asia left the Earth Alliance after the end of the Bloody Valentine War they would start to rebuild their ravaged Space Forces that been nearly destroyed during the war. While plans where going ahead to produce or buy their own ships, the Republic would realize that they had several Drake Class Escorts still under construction in East Asian controlled docks. These ships would then go through a complete redesign by East Asian Engineers. The result of this redesign would be the Shimakaze Class Heavy Escort.

This new take on the older Escort design adds two more CIWS cannons to the ship where her docking hatches used to be. These docking hatches would be moved towards the aft of the ship. These cannons where also improved from the older design with lessons learned from constructing the far superior "Igelstellung" CIWS Cannons. However the far-more effective missile launchers where not left alone. Two of the missile launchers where replaced with slightly larger anti-air missile pods able to fire light Helldart missiles against enemy mobile suits. The other two where replaced by equally superior Anti-Ship missile launchers, able to fire the larger Sledgehammer missiles against enemy ships. The torpedoes where basically left alone, though they could not launch more then just normal torpedoes, they could now launch flak charges if needed as well. Combined these change with the new Multi-Use Launchers, two equipped to either side of the bridge superstructure and the final on the bow of the ship in front of the bow CIWS Turret, which can fire various types of charges like anti-missile flak charges, the normal anti-beam depth charges, and anti-mobile suit flak charges you can give enemy mobile suits a very bad day if they attack one of these new Heavy Escorts. As many pilots found the hard way during the Second Bloody Valentine War.

The new Shimakaze Class also sports a ventral mounted hanger and catapult allowing it to carry three mobile suits. This set-up would prove vastly superior to that of the refitted Drake Class Escorts in Alliance service. All in all the new escort far superior to its non-Asian counterparts used by the Earth Alliance. While they could not really stand up against superior ships like enemy battleships or dedicated mobile suit attack their chances have improved drastically over the older Escort Design.
