Description
The yellow-bellied prinia (Prinia flaviventris) is a species of bird in the Cisticolidae family. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent and much of Southeast Asia. It ranges across Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is of 12–14 cm in size weighing 6–9 g. An attractive, fairly distinctive prinia with long graduated tail. Habitat consist of tall grasses and reedbeds, especially in riverine floodplains, in marshes, by paddyfields, canals etc. Love to live near water. Despite the fact that the population trend appears to be decreasing, the decline is not believed to be sufficiently rapid to approach the thresholds for vulnerable. But rapid decrease of wetland and marsh gradually having its toll on the population of this species.
