It looks like a purple finch, compared to our housefinches. We don't get purples anymore...just goldfinches and house sparrows.

there called purple finch but the house finch is also purple.

I thought so. Ours are just different colored...not so special. Just a little bit of red on the poll (top of the head). They're also smaller/slimmer than our purples. That's the only way I can tell which team player is which...probably don't matter.
