OBS:
I've been criticized by how "macabre and dark" this piece looks and I was advised not to post it here.
So let me get a few things straight..
- No, I don't believe that death is some kind of supernatural being who walks around the earth killing people.
- This piece needs to be seen in a metaphorical way. How death is just around the corner for all of us even when we least expect it.
It's really sad that I need to explain these things here just because some people are unable to understand the meaning behind a picture.
So no, I'm not gonna restrain myself and my work with fear of what ignorant people might think of me.

The composition of the image is extremely well done. I can tell that a lot of thought went into putting this piece together. It's a scene that each of us could see every day, none of us knowing that death is lurking right behind us.
I like how all of the birds are facing away from the girl, almost as if they can't bear to watch death take his victim. The one flying away from the scene provides an air of realism, and I especially like the way that the rain lands on him. That's a detail that many may have overlooked, and it makes me appreciate the piece that much more with your inclusion of it.
With the girl looking away from death, it's almost as though she is waiting on something, or someone - her eyes are not focused on the bird in flight, so it's almost a certainty that she is expecting a visitor. There is a bit of subtelty in that, since she received a visitor, but certainly not the one she was expecting.
Despite its dark nature, the piece demonstrates beautifully exactly why everyone should spend each moment of their lives as though it is the last, as it may very well be. I am glad that you shared this piece with the community.
I read your notes after writing my commentary on the piece - I like to give my perspective before knowing "what the artist intended" so I can provide a raw reaction. I really do mean it when I say I'm appreciative that you shared this. I do not think that this is too macabre for the site. It is evident to me that whoever is making such statements has not looked at some of the darker pieces available on dA and is unaware that this is extremely mild by comparison.

she seems very unsuspecting. actually it reminds me of Anne Bolyn's execution since the executioner cut her head off with a sword after distracting her to look the other way

This is superb, and I'm shocked this needed explanation or was protested to be posted! I agree with this completely, and honestly seeing it labeled as Peacefully and with her all relaxed as he came for her made me think of how death can be peaceful. And that it isn't supposed to be feared as most do. So, beautiful metaphor and photomanipulation. I enjoy pieces used from Faestock, her photos are amazing and begging for talented artists like yourself to be used amazingly, as this piece is!
