Hmm... are firebats supposed to blow up like that?
Ok, lessee, behind that Terran Marine and that fireball which was once a Terran Firebat, is an Ultralisk (even if it doesn't look like one
), one of the strongest and toughest land units in Starcraft. It's one of my fav zerg units coz it's so kewl and menacing (not too effective though... :/). It look too dynamic, but I hope its position would give you guys the impression that it is responsible for that miniature sun there. 
Hope you guys like it. This one actually took me two nights to color (T____T --and of course, I got lazy during the second one. :/). Again, some experimentation gone bad. Eheheh

oh damn. poor firebat. haha! correction: teh ultralisk IS the most powerful land unit. comparisons between land units in starcraft are done by 1v1-ing the units i think.

Tip: Build lots of firebats when you are defending against protoss ground units.

lolz. Iunno. I kinda like the whole Industrial Future-tech goin on with the terrans. Sides, bullets are enough to kill. Why waste resource on hundreds of marines that's gonna be killed easily? XD

Bullets = small projectile weapons
Rail guns? = preojectile weapons.
So maybe they'll using automatic railguns sometime near the future? Oh btw, the use of magazine cartridges for reloading bullets are gonna get obsolete and replaced by metal storm technology(jamless, heavy superautomatic firepower! woot!).... i hope... if that really happens in the near future, why are marines of the 24th/25th century still using magazines? (well to tell you the truth i never really so a marine using magazine clips)

Yeah, I dun think they said much bout the Marine's (or the whole Terran faction's) armaments. Unless it was in the novels, then I'm completely oblivious about it. XD; I think rail guns and gauss guns are almost of the same level. I think.

I think all they said about the marine is they shoot metal spikes in the manual.

Uhh... if you mouse over the weapon icon of the marine in Starcraft, it sez... "Gauss Rifle". And yeah, that makes sense. Gauss guns make use of magnets to shoot off sharp metal projectiles at high velocity. Kinda like Maglev Trains or sumthn I guess. XD

I thought with current technology we cant fire a rail gun without destroying the rail guiding rods themselves in the firing process cuz of the friction... or was it? DAMN! THAT opens up so many possibilities in a fanfic... OMG... so officially, the railgun technology is already valid and distributed for the terransall around the Starcraft Universe. not only that, SUPER MINIMIZED railguns usable and portable by a marine?!!

Haha sorry. It's just that... I saw a gauss pistol in Fallout 2. And I thought, you might be able to implement this not only in rifles, so yeah. But I guess if used on a pistol, the bullet won't be able to build much velocity to do any damage with such a short track. XD;
And yeah, I read about that. Rail Guns can only be fired once now, but in the future, who knooows? XD I just wonder if a small amount of energy is enough to fire a shell. Much more, a hail of them.

why can they fired once only though? Is it from friction overheating the rails? thats what i thought, but then again, cant they just suspend the loaded shell in mid air in the firing chamber, suspended in midair by magnetic stuff a meter apart? so the shell would only create friction with the air...
or we could just decrease the velocity and powroutput of the gun so it wouldnt be too powerful to kill the very gun its being fired from.

I dunno. I'm pretty much in the dark in electronic / magnetic thingy majigs. But way I see it, magnets in the rail gun would probabaly do sumthn wierd and unexpected stoof to the mechanism itself. Plus... I heard the bullet needs to be in contact with the rails coz the bullet kinda completes the circuit and causes it to move (for reasons unknown to me XDDD).
And hmm.. decreasing the power huh? Maybe? I'm not sure how much energy is needed to repel the bullet from the rails at high speeds. XD;
