I have a homemade one of a hotpink heart on the inside of my ankle (because nobody can see it there, and Dad would flip if he found out) , i officiall can't get one untill i'm 18 (only 2 more months) because if i do it before then i won't have a house O_o lol, dumb parents. I tell you though, the day i'm turning 18 i'm going to design my own and get it on my b-day

Yeah, your right, and as i get older i realize that it's not all that bad..it's just because they care..but Shhh! i didn't say that!

Deborah-Valentine In reply to m-a-e [2005-06-02 17:29:53 +0000 UTC]

sometimes i wish i was given a better example. there is a huge anti drug movement here in california where they are incouraging parents to watch over their young teens with eagle eyes! some commercials show mom and dad yelling and screaming, like roll playing, then they stop and say , so can we do this? yes i think so! it is kind of humerous, but a good way to deal for them. i never have had children so im not a good spokesperson for this sort of thing, but i have friends whith kids and i dont envy some of their difficult decisions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

m-a-e In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2005-06-03 05:19:19 +0000 UTC]

I've seen that commercial before, it's halarious. In a way i can see my dad doing that before he comes to yell at me, just because normally after he gets done arguing with me, he goes and feels bad about it and usually cries like a baby. I don't think that i'll ever have kids, atleast i don't plan on it. I really don't want to end up like my parents have. (I don't want to go through the multiple divorces and shitty relationships that they have faced.)
I try taking life as it comes, i've been through a shit-load for a kid my age. Im trying the "no-regreats" thing and so far i've stuck with it, but who knows where that will get me..

Deborah-Valentine In reply to m-a-e [2005-06-03 16:50:09 +0000 UTC]

yeah i never was married and have no legal ties to my shitty relationships.... i draw them! one thing i have learned from being in a disfunctional family is that when you are older you are less vulnerable. also you have more experience dealing in the world. i am very street-smart as well, having spent most of my life alone and traveling. i have a better relationship with my family than i ever had before.

I don't ever want to get married..but i always wonder just how lonley things would be if i never found anyone. You sound so intelligent..I barley know you, but i admire you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deborah-Valentine In reply to m-a-e [2005-06-05 19:19:36 +0000 UTC]

thank you for such a nice compliment! i have lived my life with very little compromise. i am not going to marry but as far as church/state are concerned, i beleve everyone who wants to marry should be able to. especially same sex. they have had a hard enough life, without a discrimination like that. they should by the constitution have the same rights to marry as all are created equal!.

m-a-e In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2005-06-05 22:37:56 +0000 UTC]

I'm with you on that! My town is full of a bunch of Conservative's that block anything out that doesn't agree with the bible. My very own family is the same way, with the acception of my grandmother..who has almost the same exact views that i do. Most people around here shun the same sex marrage issue. I don't, i feel that if 2 people want to get married then who cares, marrage is about love anyway, and it should'nt be anyone else's decision, it's up to the 2 peopel that care about each other. They have been through alot, and i think peopel shoudl start realizing that our society changes all the time....and that just because people have the guts to stand up against people that don't feel the same way that they do, doesn't mean that we should ridicule them their whole lives.

it is a wonderful school steeped in a great chicago art tradition. they have some of my favorite artists in the main gallery. like ivan albright. do it, go by yourself, you wont regret it, and since it is school you will be meeting lots of people. i have a realy good friend there who is a pretty famous poet. i bet she would show you things there. her name is denise dee. she is a published photographer too. i love that town.

I'll have to look her up, i dont' think i've ever heard of her, then again i haven't had enough time to sit down and read a book of any kind since last year. I'm sure i'll be ok, i'll probably only feel lonley for a while..but for me i'm used to that feeling.
