What I have here is a developed usage with photoshop. I needed mileage for that. :3 I'm sure if you put more mileage you can easily surpass me. xD

Well I have a tutorial on how to color in photoshop,
but as for traditional, you wouldn't ba able to do it unless
you had an airbrush and special paint. Digital: [link] you would
just have to read the last step. :3

I started using a good hair tool when I got CS5+ CS4 kinda had it but it wasn't like CS5's or CS6's.

[link] < here I used the school's 1-2 GB DDR5 quattro card which made the strokes react very smoothly (+angles) I tried to mess around with it and it got more audience than I was expecting. xD
I took more notice of the brush from here on out.

[link] > Upgraded my own VGcard to DDR5 1gb instead of DDR2 and got more RAM. Its not like the school's pcs but it gets the job done for now. A little use in this one.

90% of the time I don't use any base color first. I use greys for a good tone and then put the color on top.

Ah ^^ So do you do base grey->shading->hair on the same layer->color on next layer with opacity->any shined spots on the layer above it?
Also, for base pure black and white coats, would I still want to work in grey first? ^^

Yup!
For black I use a dark grey and even darker after that with highlights after that.
For the white I use a much lighter grey then a darker one and then highlights.
For some reason white can get a little bit tricky so use alot of references.

Haha~<3 Well, I'm using the same base, as they have identical positions, but in inverse, then tweaking the tone with Sai or gimp :3 I've done the basic shading and starting to add basic fur texture ^^ Would you mind giving some basic advice if I upload? I later plan to merge with linerat, give a light blur, and add minor details with a small fur brush :3 Have to do it a bit differently to have it work with Sai ^^'

Alright, thanks ^^ I'll play around with the paws tomorrow ^^ I was actually planning to add more detail, and did about half the body before realizing it looked really strange in the actual size it'll be presented because of all the time stokes x3 I enjoyed the style, though, so gonna practice more in it ^^
