KUP from Transformers. Done in an effort to promote the 'Last Stand of the Wreckers' Transformer series written and illustrated by my friend Nick Roche. He asked me to do a specific character from the series; Kup.

This was not easy to do. Coming up with an interesting composition was tough. A lot of transformers images are very standard 'character-in-the-centre-coming-atcha' type images, which kinda bore me. Tried to get across the sense that this is a huge chunk of machinery that would tower over you. I also had to try design a mouth, as transformers are drawn with cartoony mouths a lot, and when we're talking about machinery here, that just doesn't make sense to my brain.

Went fairly stylized here; with one flat colour and a retro tone roughly sketched in. Pretty happy with it.
