Description Started off with making the planet some days ago. Thanks to ~xRed-thunderDragoNx for tips on planet textures
Made another space for it, but decided it not good enough, and started over again, with the same planet. Did more work with the nebula this time. I believe it turned out pretty good.

Please tell me what you think.

that city on the bottom... those are huge fookin roads! seriously!

if you look at the planet earth, only the great wall of china is visible as a structure.

something you might want to consider on planets where the light is coming from behind are those photos of the world at night, with the lights that show where the urban areas are... like this: [link] or [link]

I think that would make for a killer dark side of the planet detail.

another question: how big of an colliding object would it take for a planet's surface to ripple like liquid?

The roads... I have slapped myself 100 times for making them. I dont think anyone else who has seen the pic has thought about it (except you, and me) but you are right, roads wouldn't show. When I made it, i thought about other planets I have seen with citylights (photoshop-made), but came to think about it after I was finished.

Nice urban areas lights. Thanks for the tip.

Answer: Pretty big I suppose. That trail thingy on the small planet kinda looks weird... but the idea was that the planet like thingy was the thing moving fast, not something moving against the planet... if you see what I mean.

Awsome... Very good nebula graphic. The colors in it where used perfectly, and the surrounding enviroment just makes it more perfect. The texture of the planet is just... astounding. O_O The other planet looks like its really... screwed.... xD

Very awsome.

(Hey, i alot of your pictures, they'res the ships. Whats the deal with them? )

Thanks.
The ships...well they're becoming a clichΓ© (or something like that), but other than that, I think they add something to the piece, maybe a feeling of life.

I know. For some reason, I never get many views and favs at the time, though I believe I'm improving...
I had much more comments and views on my first pieces, which sucked... now all the big ones gets them..I think.

The whole picture is ace when you look at it as a piece - the contrastiness and the colours in the nebulae etc. are great. Nice planet too, with a night side

On closer inspection there are a few little defects... youi missed some blending on the composite of the orange neb and you can see a series of straight lines... just a small point but it makes the difference

Thanks for the comment!
I know about the "lines", that is some layer bugs which I have now fixed.
I am not sure what you mean about I missed some blending?

Hey thank you the credit! (it's "dev" not "deviant" in the link)
Man this planet is awesome and the city lights are one of the bests I've ever seen!
The nebulas are so beautful and well done, but not the most realistic ones
The ships are nice (you could make then better! a long engine tail is always pretty cool )

But, oh man, WTF ARE THESE LAYERS LINES?! How could you don't see then! I can make a count of 7 there!
You could make better the stars inself too. They haven't a good distribution, as inside the nebulas should have more.

wath did you use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

decline In reply to xRed-thunderDragoNx [2004-10-22 09:02:42 +0000 UTC]

what what did I use?
Hehe...well I had saved like 5 sat pics like I mentioned, I opened them all in photoshop, and pasted them all in one, big "document"/image, and made them fit eachother, using smudge tool, the magic tool thingy (the one that copies areas) and some colour adjustment. I made it fit in a circle shape, and then spherized it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xRed-thunderDragoNx In reply to decline [2004-10-22 17:13:44 +0000 UTC]

And the 3dsm that I told you?
You can stock the final texture image, without the spherize and circle thingy and put it on 3dsm. Make some adjustments and 3dsm makes the magic

looks nice i like the nebula may i ask how u made thoose ships? the big earth like planet could have been bump mapped a bit more the stars and nebula look very very nice

decline In reply to Fusion-light [2004-10-21 08:54:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.
The ships are made in photoshop. I drawed the shape with a gray colour (about twice as big size as you see here) , and used dodge and burn tool + smudge and sharpen tool to shape it (in 200% zoom).
