Turns out that the power to "lift something" is called "telekinesis". "Kinesis" is used to bend spoons.
Stiil, "Telekinesis" is used in the games to lift the enemy pokemon.
So, what do we make of all this?
That you can expect me being creative with how powers are used in this world.
Also, in this page we get to see how birds look in this world, a bit like avians, a bit like the Rito from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild.
This is the anthropomorphism I'm aiming for: bipedal pokémon, but still feral-like.
