The frailties at the start and end of life are evident in the skin. It's quite some experience seeing your newborn vulnerable and lying there on mum's skin after 9 months of security!

you're right about that! after holding Marianne's hand through the delivery, and getting over the excitement/shock of seeing newborn Charlotte in that state, this was probably the first photo taken

First time I saw my new born....my wife had a c-section and I was behind the curtain by her head...I heard the doctor say: "He's here."....I heard my baby boy cry and I stood up a little too soon and saw him, half way out of her belly, looked like the seen from Alien....

holy crap, i just got scared, this give me nightmares for many days. why you take such bad picture of baby hands? this look like old russian woman who live on street for many years and is old and wrinkly.

your last sentence was the reason why I took this image- these days, all you see is sterilised cute baby shots - they are far from that when they first enter the world and that is the reason for taking the picture - a gritty reminder that frailty runs at both ends of life.
