Day 23 of the 25 Days of Christmas Challenge
Prompt: Stocking

Iwaizumi stood at the foot of the bed, watching you sleep like some kind of creeper. Your chest rose and fell in tandem with your breaths, features scrunched cutely as sunlight streamed through the window. Your eyebrows pinched when you stretched an arm out to feel for him, only to realise he was gone. A part of him - just a tiny part of him - thought that you'd wake up to find him, but you only turned on your side, huffing. Iwaizumi almost laughed.

He just had to wake you up and ask you to check the stockings - it was as easy as that, but his heart was pounding. He squeezed his shaking hands into fists, telling himself he wouldn't think about the possibility that you could reject him, because four years might not be a long time to be dating, and the both of you were still in college. And this way of doing it wasn't romantic at all, so maybe he should wait and do this another time—

Gods, screw that. Thinking didn't help gather his courage. He had to beat Oikawa anyways. He took one last deep breath before shaking your shoulder.

"Oi, [Name]. Wake up."

You only grumbled, mumbling something about it being the holiday break and the both of you should sleep more.

"[Name]. Please." Something in his voice made you pry an eye open.

"Did you burn breakfast?"

"No."

"Then why?" You cried, sitting up and rubbing your eyes groggily.

"Just—" Iwaizumi sighed. "Just come to the living room for a while. I think there's something in the stockings."

"Huh? What stockings?" You sleepily threw off the covers and swung your legs over the side of the bed.

"The stockings on top of the fireplace, what else? Wake up, dummy." He gently flicked your forehead as you stood up.

You blindly followed Iwaizumi into the living room, where he took off a Christmas stocking from above the fireplace and held it up to you. Incredulous, you raised an eyebrow at him before taking the stocking from his hand, peering inside. A glint in the wool caught your eye.

"What's..." You tipped the stocking over your palm, where a silver engraved ring fell onto-- wait. A ring?

You raised your eyes, wide as the sun, to Iwaizumi as he startled into speech.

"I... I know we're still young, but once we get out of here, will you mar—"

"Yes."

"—ry me...?" Iwaizumi blinked, his mind not able to keep up with the fact that you've said yes, and you've said yes before he finished his sentence.

It catches him off guard as you barrel into him, and he barely has the time to twist himself under you as the both of you fall.

You dummy. He almost says, but the happiness he felt that that moment doesn't allow for words as you bury your face in his chest, laughing. He only wraps his arms around you, squeezing you - his fiancee tight.

Tears shine in your eyes and you push yourself up, looking down at him. "You know, Hajime, that wasn't romantic."

"Shut up." Iwaizumi pushes himself into a sitting position, you still straddling him. He takes the ring out from your palm and slips it less than gracefully onto your ring finger, stunned silent by the way the accessory looked like it belonged there.

You let out a laugh, a sound that sounds bright and true to his ears, but it's quickly cut off as Iwaizumi pulls you close, lips gliding over yours.
