Description Poland and Germany from Axis Powers Hetalia.

These countries have a rather rocky relationship, but since in APH everything is so cheerful I decided to draw a light interpretation of them. It's based on a joke, I'm not sure who has said it (maybe Stefan Müller): "Germans like Polish so much that they even visit them so often and tend too stay for a while."

I think not many Germans really cares about Poland. When I met one German and told him that I'm a Germanist (?) he asked me: "Why? Are you French?". I didn't know why should I be French. "Well, I though French would be interested in learning German". Ehh, didn't know what to say. Other way round, a friend of mine, who is genius in German grammar and stuff once said about Germans: "I love their language, but I hate them all".

Oh, I wish everything were much more in Hetalia's way.

..... this is pretty funny.... however that was a kinda racist comment that your friend made.... saying they hate Germans is rude cause they might get a friend they really like and find out they're German later on.... I'm sorry but I find that comment very offensive.....

Yes, it is very offensive and no one should say it, but people keep talking like: "I hate Pole - they steal" or "I hate Arabs - they are all terrorists". I myself don't like stereotypes and it is very good, that such Hetalia exists, where the stereotypes are really cute shown. I just can wish for my friend he/she will get to know very nice Germans like I do.

Hehe, let's just say that people are too different. You can't generalize and say Germans are this way, Poles are that way. There are all kinds. However, sometimes it's difficult to understand a person, even if he or she seems to be nice. Culture differences... (writing this as somebody who lives in Germany but is from Eastern Europe).

I don't say like that. Have you got the impression I generalize? Then I have to apologise. The joke is more or less about many wars we had with Germany.

With "you can't generalize" I didn't mean you now but people as general. I should be more careful how I phrase things, sorry.

Yeah, Polish and German people should be really like in hetalia. My father for example has his prejutice about germans and only makes friends with poles or turkish people. He thinks that Germans are still Nazis, but that's not true!

To the art: this is really, really cute! Playing with toy ponies xDD

mogłabym też napisać po polsku albo nawet po niemiecku, ale jestem za leniwa^^

Ow, so your favourite language is English?

I've heard that Turkish people prefer living in ghettos rather than getting along with Germans, at least women. But you are from Berlin so you know from your own experience Btw, I envy you - it's such an interesting place!

I suppose boys also play with ponies ^^". To tell the truth, I too often used to sit in those of my friends house, who had My Little Ponies.

KimikoToudaiji In reply to DeEP-Gluttony [2009-03-17 14:12:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it's the best language to express what I want to say. But I like German and Polish, too^^

That's right even in school Turkish pupils prefer to stay in a group of Turkish or other Muslim friends. It's a pity, cause since where multicultural why don't we all get along and share our experience with our culture? I don't understand why people want to live in a social glass house.

You're right, when girls are allowed to play with toy cars and all the other stuff for boys, why shouldn't boys play with ponies or with dolls? I find that cute^^

How long have you been learning German?

DeEP-Gluttony In reply to KimikoToudaiji [2009-03-18 10:57:47 +0000 UTC]

Now, for 5-6 years. To tell the truth, I like German more than English, it is for me more flexible. But I've been learning English for such a long time, that I am far better at it. I think in Polish (if it happens that I think) so I'm surprised that you prefer other language than your mother tongue, or maybe you're English?

Once I overheard a conversation between mother and a son. He wanted a seal toy, but the problem was, he wanted a pink one. I felt such an anger while the mother was explaining to him, that he cannot play with_pink_ seal, because it is for girls. Well, why?

KimikoToudaiji In reply to DeEP-Gluttony [2009-03-18 13:51:09 +0000 UTC]

And do find it is easy to learn? Cause my polish relatives who are learning German say that it's pretty hard to learn.
Yes, Polish is my mother language, but since I'm born in Germany and raised here I can't speak Polish that well. But I'm definitely going to improve it

I don't know why pink is only for girls, since pink was originally a color for boys, while baby blue was the color for girls. But pink for boys is gradually popular again. But you're right, it's not right to teach children to play only with gender-specific toys, it only causes that they bully children who don't.

Since I like the language and had a great teacher, I didn't have much difficulties. Well, I am not perfect and sometimes I'm really down because I cannot remember some vital things, like which Kasus to use or wich Preposition should be putted. My writing is always a mess, I can tell you. But all in all I wouldn't say it's difficult. It's sometimes similar to Polish and it's Grammar is so logical!

I would be scarred to learn Polish. I have sometimes problems with endings myself. And it is sometimes very hard to say something polite without overuse of Mr and Ms.

Pink was colour for boys? I didn't know. What a surprise! Maybe that's why porn is always coloured in pink.
