You know, I'm sure how to improvise this to be honest. But the character in the centre is very beautiful, indeed.

I think its beautiful as it is. Why not consider cropping it or displaying it in a triptic or with a border to give it a fresh feel? That might be all it needs?

I put everything into different sections, it helps me writing

Background: I think it could do with some more highlights to create more dynamics and depth.

Composition: i find the paper needs croping. i do not think that the square shape compliments the work very well it does not frame the figure well. maybe a portrait crop would be nice.

Hair: some deep red, definite lines would suggest a stronger sense structure and texture

Wow. . . This watercolor is breathtaking. It's so lovely and I love the underwater feel of the picture. Nice job :3
And it looks like it took you a long time. I understand the battles of watercolor, so it's really great. :3

I always thought that the real challenge in watercolors is in tones and shades, not in how many colors you use. I don't think there is anything wrong with the background.

How lovely! I get a very mystical, floaty feeling when I look at this. I love underwater scenes, and you did great with the color scheme here. It's not over bearing with blue and has a nice balance of white as well. I do think it would have been cool to add a few more colors, I do love color and adding some greens and a few warm colors to the background would have been a nice touch to this already great picture! ^0^ It has a very nice flow of movement though So I don't want to overbear you!

i dont think this is too blue, i like the fact its very very blue!...the hair could be redder though, mayb if u got another paint(oils or acrylics mayb) so u could paint over the hair. bt i think this is really well done, normally watercolours have that look lik nothing has blended much, bt urs is very good!!!!

AHHH! I cannot get over how amazing you are, darlin'.
I wouldn't change the background. I think if you put in any more detail in it would distract from the mermaid-thingy. I love the color of the hair, it contrasts nicely with the blue. But if you want it more red versus pink, perhaps add a bit of orange. I would put in some of that color into the tips of the fins to add some definition to the woman, and also to tone down the "blueness". Great work, once again!

Ohhh you again! I love your style! ^^

Anyhow, I really like the water colours! I wouldn't say it's too blue or that it's empty, but I think small fish would help bring more colour to it or fill it up if that's what you're looking for. I like the simplicity though because it emphasizes the solitude in the picture.

The only other thing I wanted to mention is that I feel that her hands are missing a finger, but if you meant it to be that way that's fine too ^^

anyhow, great job!!!

omg the fith finger is hidden , but how ever it looks really look like that shes missing one IOI , i didnt presente it well :< ty i nerva realize it XD its funny tho

KiwiKassa In reply to DeepBlueEyesz [2009-12-11 19:53:28 +0000 UTC]

Hahahaa that's okay, I figured she wasn't actually missing a finger and that it was hidden but at first I was like.... Maybe it's supposed to be like that? Something symbolic? hahaha

but that's okay~ It's something minor that can be fixed.

^^ Love the picture ^^

Let me start off with saying I am always in awe of folks who can work well with watercolors.

As far as colors go, the transition in her hair from the sort of red-to the faded purple type looks beautiful. I think if you wanted the hair to stand out more, the red could be much brighter in order to achieve that effect. Otherwise, BEAUTIFUL work.

First off, this is a wonderful piece. I absolutely love it! As for the background, well the only thing is that i find the bubbles to be a bit to big in comparison to the girl, maybe have them a little smaller and more frequent. Otherwise its great, wicked job!!!

first of all this'll be my very amateur opinion ^^ and it's very beautiful drawing i love it

i don't know what to suggest XD but the color looks really great and not to blue~ and her hair give very good accent~

as for the bg it looks nice~ but if add many fishes it'll looks great as well~

gppr [2009-12-09 17:16:00 +0000 UTC]

This is a very beautiful design.

I like the simple background. It does not compete with the complexity of the figure. You could add fish if you wanted, but more like a texture tho. Like they are swimming in the distance, I'd suggest.

I think the composition would look even better with less room on the left. I know the a piece of the tail is there, but it looks a little unbalanced and it would be okay not to show all of it. Also, there's too little room at the bottom. She seems tight there, if there was more space under her, it would reinforce the impression that she's floating in the vast ocean.

I like the red hair. It's distinct from the overall blue, but not jarringly so. The colour blends at the roots and stands apart at the tips.

I hope this is helpful, even it is for further pieces.

First off this is a really amazing peice of work I'm always so jealous of people with such remarkable water colour skills ><; annyways... to answer the feedback you've requested, I think the background looks fine, since the girl has so much detail it kind of balances ^^ Also I think that the hair is definately red enough~ I really like how the blue and red blended and made some purple, it looks super neat :3 hmm.. and the painting too blue? I kind of think so it seems too concentrated on that colour and consumes too much of it, maybe adding darrrrker shades of blue and greens and such :3 nice cool colours. But over all this is just a stunning peice~~ Keep up the amazing work!
