I loved that show as a child as well, and I always loved the way they protrayed Princess Zelda as something more than a demure, helpless girl. The newer games in the series are taking the same route, but nothing compares to TV-Zelda.
Her outfit rocked in all of it's 80's-ness, and you managed to make it look even better. I especially love the hairstyle, and the change to the lower half of her look. ^_^

I don't see this in ArtSpam so I shall comment here!
It appears that the torso is twisted to her left, not sure if that was intentional but it works well. Where she's looking and the light source for the rays don't line up, although I'm tired right now and nothing lines up. I like the upside-down Triforce (chalice/blade symbolism?) at the bottom of the sash, maybe might go well on the belt buckle as well?
Only thing it's really missing for me is the broadsword from Twilight Princess (not the Master Sword but the plainer one without adornment) in her right hand.

I meant, "You CAN'T just glance at her and say "80's!!!" anymore." Stupid fingers not listening to my brain...

I love this! I own the Zelda cartoon DVD set so, yeah, I'm a big fan too. I like how you toned everything down and made her look quite a bit more timeless. You just glance at her and say "80's!!!." The only thing is the upside down Triforce. Now, it may just be me, but upside down religious symbols (which it is to Hyrule) are typically not good. Regardless, I'm faving this one.

Hmm, I was going with the position the Triforce of Wisdom was usually in during the cartoon--bottom tip pointing down. In the intro, Ganon seems to have his Triforce with point-up.
There's a bit of ancient mythology relating to the up/down of triangles--point down was feminine, point up was masculine. (I'll leave you to use imagery to figure out why it was decided that way). Seeing as Zelda was feminine, and the Triforce of Wisdom seems more feminine in that its presence and influence is quieter, less brassy. Triforce of Power, what with Ganon holding it, was distinctly more masculine. That's why I made the triangles that way.
And thank you for the fave/comments! It's good to see I'm not in a total vacuum regarding that cartoon.
And yeah, the original cartoon Zelda was soooo 80s. The big hair, the middle part, the pink pants. Yeow.

Ah, I see. I remember the indivdual pieces being point down. I guess I had just never seen the entire Triforce that way.
Now that I think about it, though, I do remember it kinda being that way. In the Captain N cartoons, the pieces were pointed down, but the Triforce itseldf still had one piece on top and two on bottom, same thing in the comics..
Anyway, It's not like those comics/cartoons were known for their consistency so it could be any way. And it doesn't detract from the image, so it's all good.

Wow, this is really nice, you can tell it's supposed to be the cartoon Zelda but it doesn't make your eyes bleed. XD I thought her outfit was terrible even back in the 80s.
Did she escape Ganon on her own? I remember her running off even when common sense dictated she should stay behind. Then again, Ganon had a habit of imprisoning those he captured with all their weapons...not the brightest crayon in the box.

Yeah, that was the one I was thinking of when I mentioned Ganon leaving them with their weapons. XD

Yeah, what the hell made him do that, especially when he had her in his cluches. He'd want to keep her there. Unless he has a weird pursuit fetish or something...you never know with strange pig-men scorcerers.

I love how you added the elegance of Zelda's game form with the design of her cartoon counterpart. Damn, I loved that cartoon, I don't care bout Ocarinas or Twilights, that to me was the definte Zelda.
