I have **finally** finished her!! This piece has been more than a year in the making, but I finally finished her!

The day of the zombie apocalypse started like any other for Nerissa, with a leisurely swim. While she was frolicking, she noticed a rainbow coloured smear on the surface of the water near where the ocean met the Badlands. Swimming closer to investigate, she realised the smear was actually alive, flailing its tentacle like appendages across the surface as if it were struggling to find something to help it remain afloat. Against all instincts, she reached out with her tail fin and poked this strange phenomenon. The oil clung to her tail fin and slowly began to creep across its delicate surface. All at once, Nerissa felt a tingling sensation where the oil touched. As it crept up her fin and towards the tail poor Nerissa saw that the membrane of her fin was gone, leaving only exposed bones. As the living oil crept up her body, devouring her flesh, Nerissa knew only one thing for certain.
She knew something was very, very wrong.

Sculpting was done with Magic sculpt over wire armature. Each tail bone was sculpted and sanded, then the spinal column was built around the bones.
Painting is all done using artist grade acrylics, sealed with dollcote, modpodge (gloss and matte), triple thick and sculpty glaze.
Hair is Hematite, Pacific Ocean, After Midnight, Venom, Evil Enchantress, Poison Ivy, Haunted Forest, Ultraviolet, Deadly Nightshade and Brilliant Black from Dollyhair. That was twisted and pinned in place with beads, and her bone hair ornaments which were decorated with handmade chain and bead dangles and a swarovski crystal heart.
Her 'living oil' was made using a similar technique as I use to make blood splatter, layered up to get the effect I was looking for. That was then given a layer of iridescent foil, which I painted slightly to get the effect right.
