They live in the swamps on the region near the bodies of water. To avoid being found by predators, they mimic the scent of other Pokemon to hide, this works while the predator uses its scent of smell. In case this fail, it releases a bad stench that will make the predator look a way and try not to puke, enough time so Kimimi escapes by digging a hole in the dirt.

Kimimi evolved after seeing Hydreigon, a Pokemon with no predators, and thus it evolved to look like it. This has been one of the few cases in where a completely unrelated species causes evolution on a Pokemon. Swamydra reigns over the swamps and merges with the bodies of water by floating and letting its kelp like body do the rest. When it spots something threatening a Kimimi, it will rise from the mud or body of water it hid in a horrifying way, and create a tremendous roar, followed closely by a Dragon Pulse or Hydro Pump.
