to me, at this point there is no way he can truly slip up at this point. from the start of them coming out hes learned that if he misgenders them in front of people hed get a rightful asswhooping, which is why he only exclusively did it when they were alone, especially when trying to hurt them. its not that he forgot in a state of panic, hes been making the conscious choice to not forget this whole time. the only reason he misgenders them at this scene is because he has been choosing to from the start and id also argue that the misgendering is far from trivial even when compared to their murder, because hes dehumanizing them further. in the comic its very clear from the moment they meet again that he just doesnt respect them and has only ever made the effort to pretend to when necessary, so now that theyre dead even if hes arguing with dean, he feels no reason to respect them for who they truly are
