thanks a lot, i hoped to find one self portrait of you in your gallery, that i could use for some vector work, but i didnΒ΄t find a stock photo that fits.

If you like, keep an eye out.. and also, like my new FAQ type thingie says, if you find something that works just ask me, I'll probably be cool with you using anything I have on my DA page.

I really like the caricature aspects of this piece, again very well done, nice style and technique. I think the depth of field on this one works great!
I know I'm not being of much help here but this is just great!
If I had to nit pick I would say add a little more detail to the hair, that may or may not help...
Again, nice illustration!
P.S. How are you doing these? Illustrator then photoshop? Just curious.

def09 In reply to mftalon [2004-05-15 09:04:51 +0000 UTC]
corel draw, photoshop. i know that corel draw is not as good as illustrator, but i have worked with older versions since i was 15 or 16, so it is much easier for me to go on with corel than changing to illustrator.
the combination with photoshop is necessary, because corel is not able to do transperency and blur, it is, but not without needing a whole battery of high-performance-computers.
thank you for the comment, getting such gut comment by someone whoΒ΄s doing such great illustrations is a big honour.

I REALLY like this. How did you do the bluring technique? I like that.

def09 In reply to beta-version [2004-04-24 09:42:07 +0000 UTC]
i added "mary" and the background seperatly to photoshop and used the blurring effect with soft edges, easy as that

cool vector, but the vector seems to be a blurred photo, which isn't that cool..

def09 In reply to n-x [2004-04-23 16:46:13 +0000 UTC]
if it were a blurred photo, that wouldnΒ΄t be that cool.
trust me it is done with corel draw, i only had that photo to see the proportions.

lol i'm confused.. sorry bud, i wanted to mean the background, i don't know why i've typed "vector"..
but the background is a blurred photo, isn't it?
π: 0 β©: 1
def09 In reply to n-x [2004-04-23 16:52:58 +0000 UTC]
not really, i used a photo for it, but it is not just blurred.
i used some filters to get a seperation of the different colors, after that i used a tool, that converts bitmaps to vectors. than i putted back- and ?forground? (that might not be the right word) together and afterwards exported them seperatly, than worked on it in photoshop again.
maybe not the easiest way to do that, but well it worked
