Damon and Elena do match better than Stefan and Elena.

As you pointed out, Stefan is always to nice and brooding...
Elena is a feisty person and Damon can support that more than Stefan...

ich kann sie mir auch nicht als paar vorstellen, aber dennoch hab ich sie gerne als 'freunde' zusammen.
