I realized there are alot of characters I haven't drawn so I figured I'll draw each one of them in separate portraits while practicing with lighting and shading techniques, starting with Shadow.For this, I wanted to go for a darker, abstract approach.

I need to work on these techniques myself, I use photoshop a lot, but mostly for bold, cartoony images. This a pretty good shadowy picture.

Oh my GOSH. This is really good! The way it's constructed from lines seems to really bring out Shadow's biological nature, i.e. his hedgehog quills. The closed eyes and half-angry/half-guilty expression reveals his personality, and the sparking Chaos energy in his palm being the only light he has seems to indicate that his power is his only justification for his actions -- a pretty sad existence if you ask me. This depiction of Shadow the Hedgehog has made my day.
