If I had to guess, the closure is the only reason this movie is being made. Tartakovsky always said he planed on ending the series. But with the Clone Wars popping up, that became a difficult thing to do.

I think it recently got the green light. I know for sure J.J. Abrams is co-producing it, so it's more likely than not going to happen. And I think their aiming for a 2012 release.
Spider-Man 4 was canceled, bro. Sam Raimi left, and then Toby followed suit. So Sony's "rebooting" the franchise with a new cast and new director. So, even if they do plan on using Carnage eventually, it'll be a looooooong time from now. :C

Oh good! They were saying a samurai jack movie was going to be the end, but then of course they just put in alot of uh...clone wars shows instead.
Also I am glad to hear that. I fucking hate that spiderman series, it was such bullshit. Hopefully they can get this shit somewhat right this time round (In the second movie, Doc Oc and aunt may were the only ones capable of acting. How sad.)

Haha yeah. I mean it's kinda hard to tell George Lucas "No I don't want to make an award winning cartoon that will make me lots of money, and also shape the canon of a series that has a fan base larger than anything I could fathom."
I thought the first one was good, if it wasn't for the god awful design for GG. And yeah the second was certainly as good as it's going to get. But with the third one, I have to blame Sony for forcing Venom in at the last second and against the director's will. But I really doubt these new movies are gonna be any better, seeing as the new director's resume consists of nothing but teeny bopper romance movies. ;(
