Description Obsessive compulsive - existence disordered
The trashman and the watch he wears
Are ticking;
His fingertips feed on the feel -
Of any and all objects tangible and real
The rituals habitual - as is his fear
Of murderous microbes that might float near
Hypochondriac tendencies developed
In a world of wonder - so enveloped
He makes rubber gloved love
To things made by, things made by -
The garbageman up above

The arms on his truck grab nab and clutch
An impromptu lunch
The sound that’s made could be mistaken
For a belly achin’
Though the drivers second stomach -
Hasn’t reached capacity
So he goes on rummaging -
Testing the elasticity
In everything

He can’t help but be amazed
At the things people throw away
Waste, how humans waste -
The trashman never receives gifts
Aside from what neighborhood dogs leave him
Steaming or drying - for the world to breathe in
So possession is nine tenths of the law,
He follows;
The remainder is saved for sanitary wipes -
In every pocket of his work clothes

He dons a surgical mask
And conducts autopsies on dumpsters
Last night while down under
He misread a toxicology report -
Pertaining to a bum he later wrestled
For a half drunk bottle -
Of something cheap, strong, and awful
Battle won, adversary bloodied -
He ran hungry hands up and down
A eighty proof trophy
Before leaving it - and its homeless owner
To drink, cry, and wonder why

A bruise blooming bluish dark
Evidence of interaction, marks
The trashman’s recent triumph
To touch and be touched;
It’s not sexual - though close enough
Filthy minds - do their own cleaning
After a fashion, teeming
As they are in dirty pretty things -
Bits and pieces of a life discarded
Treasure to be buried or hoarded
The trashman is roaming
Hiding his haul in black bags
Devoid of light - and free from sight
He and the watch he wears
Are ticking;
Obsessive compulsive -
He finds order

It feels so lonely and desolate. The imagery in this is fantastic.

thanks for reading and commenting. I was flipping through my gallery today and realized I never submitted this to any groups - it's always nice to get some feedback on stuff even if it's old.
