Description "Transformers Collaborative is a subline of the Generations franchise that began in 2019, intended to incorporate properties originating outside of the Transformers brand, not unlike the Crossovers franchise (2008–2011) before it.

Unlike its predecessor, some Collaborative toys received tie-in crossover comics published by IDW Publishing."

Hey there, Dex here once again with another post for Transformers Month. This time we're looking at Transformers Collaborative which I have to say is much better than the old Marvel and Star Wars crossover toys they did in the early 2000's. So I guess I'll just jump into it. Ectotron and Gigawatt are great toys and do justice to Transformers as well as Ghostbusters and Back to the Future. (I'm more of a Back to the Future guy than Ghostbusters but had to grab the Ecto-1 as a Transformer lol), I also enjoyed the comics IDW made for both of those toys. I didn't grab Maverick the Top Gun crossover guy as I've never seen that movie and well to be honest, Maverick is just super boring looking in both modes, hell he feels like a Drone you'd fought in the 2007 Movie tie-in game. Then there's Ultimate X-Spanse which was a huge let down, I love the 90's X-Men cartoon (Can't believe they made a follow up to it with X-Men 97 I think it's called) so this was gonna be a day one for me, however I saw the toy and how it's a redo of ROTF Jetfire and was like fuck that also "Ultimate X-Spanse" is one of the worst names ever. Then there was Tyrannocon Rex with JP93 (Again another shit name) the first Jurassic Park two pack and I love these guys as a huge Jurassic Park fan even if JP93's name makes me cry inside, I still haven't gotten the Dilophocon with JP12 set yet but plan too though JP12 is a fucken awful name, unless JP12 and JP93 are meant to be Drones of some kind. I didn't grab the next guy, J. Balvintron the crossover with that J. Balvin guy (Whoever the fuck that is), Old mate J. Balvin must be fucken colourblind or something because he took Soundwave and made his ass look worse than a G2 recolour, holy fuck man.

Then they did Draculus and Frankentron as crossovers with the Universal Monsters and they both look cool and I hope to pick them up at somepoint. Then there's H.I.S.S Tank Megatron, A.W.E Striker Bumblebee and Thunder Machine Soundwave they made as crossovers with G.I. Joe (Only took them close to 40 years) and I thought about getting these but I dunno, they seem a bit shit apart from the Soundwave and I couldn't give a fuck about G.I. Joe but it's cool they finally made crossover toys with them. Then there's the Tonkanator set made up of Mega Dozer, Power Digger, Motor Load, Skyhook, Mega Hauler and Motormix (Not bad names) and these guys were for the Tonka crossover. I feel like the "Tonkabots" as I call them do a much better job of using G1 molds than J. Balvintron did since having diggers and cranes be yellow makes way more sense than whatever the fuck J. Balvintron was up to, I do plan on getting this set at somepoint too. Then out of no where this line imported the Street Fighter crossover toys so we have the Ryu Optimus Prime, Ken Hot Rod, Chun-Li Arcee and M. Bison Megatron, I didn't grab these and they seem alright, Now if they do a crossover with Mortal Kombat then I'm there. (MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!). Then there was the VNR Optimus Prime that was a crossover with Volvo Trucks after the whole "Amazon Prime" crossover didn't work out and they changed that toy to make Holiday Optimus Prime which this guy is a recolour of. I've still to get this mold but hope to do so some day as the Holiday version or the VNR version. Next is Code Red aka the Stranger Things Transformer and I have this guy, he is very cool and I love the Pizza Box he comes in. Last but not least is Party Wallop (Shit name) the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Transformer and I do hope to buy this guy as a fan of Ninja Turtles and Transformers.

One bone I do have to pick with this line is how for Ghostbusters and Back to the Future they made whole comic books from IDW to give context to Ectotron and Gigawatt but didn't do that for Maverick (From Top Gun), Ultimate X-Spanse (From X-Men), Tyrannocon Rex, Dilophocon, JP93 and JP12 (From Jurassic Park), J. Balvintron (From J. Balvin), Draculus and Frankentron (From Universal), H.I.S.S. Tank Megatron, A.W.E. Striker Bumblebee and Thunder Machine Soundwave (From G.I. Joe), Ryu Optimus Prime, M. Bison Megatron, Ken Hot Rod and Chun-Li Arcee (From Street Fighter) or Tonkanator/The Tonkabots (From Tonka). As I feel like doing comic crossovers for most of these other brands would've been really fun and gave our new Bots/Cons the chance to shine. I do understand why we haven't gotten comics for VNR Optimus Prime, Code Red or the still to come out Party Wallop since Skybound is working on their Energon Universe line of comics and doesn't give a shit about mini-crossover comics at the current moment so rip Stranger Things and Ninja Turtles. Another weird thing is IDW made crossover comics with Star Trek, My Little Pony and Terminator (The last of which goes so fucken hard) but made no toys for those in the Collaborative line (Well there's a Pony in Prime colours if that counts?) but in both the Star Trek and Terminator comics they made new Bots who could be done as toys such as the "Crewbots" and the Hunter Killer Seekers. I dunno what's up with that. I'm still waiting on the Power Rangers crossover and I don't care how much Hasbro is pussy footing around it, just do it you cowards!

This has been Dex, over and out.
