I've never actually posted anything about this here, but I've been writing an Ace Attorney fic for over a year now called Symbiosis . In it, Phoenix is a literal phoenix, but he can take the form of a living tattoo in order to bond with a host, which he needs to do to survive. He winds up bound to Edgeworth and acts as his legal aide, while Edgeworth works on the mystery of what Phoenix exactly is.
