I wanted to do a robot/ android design that would look like it would actually work. Like, the body structure and parts ( pistons, engines, etc) that would actually power the robot.Line art and 2 hours in photoshop.

Posted this on Kongregate.com last year, and a user named Xandaross came up with a cool backstory for it, and I thought I'd post it.
"The Arogloam battlefield has remained littered with rubble decades after the last battle of the Ten Year Wars. Passerby have often reported sightings of an ancient Mk VII combat automata, apparently lost in contemplation."

Very good, although the head is a little too reminiscent of the xenomorph from ALIEN for your purposes, I think.
Also, could a waist that skeletal really support the upper body? The overall upper body looks as though it lacks the necessary shock absorption to avoid damage from the jostling inherent in bipedal walking.

Hah, this was actually before I saw Alien for the first time.
This is an old piece, but I'm taking an anatomy class right now, and the skeleton is one strong, well-engineered machine. Of course muscles help absorb shock, but the skeleton is strong enough to support itself. I do agree that there is something lacking in his upper half, maybe I should revisit this guy someday.
