Description Chakan is a comic character created by Robert Kraus that starred in a video game adaptation for the Sega Genesis in 1992.

Chakan was an arrogant swordsman who challenged Death to a duel and won. Chakan was granted immortality, but not without a catch. Chakan had to vanquish all known evil in the universe, and until then would never die. Unlike other immortal characters, Chakan feels pain, wounds heal at the same rate, and ages like everyone else.

I have been very interested in that game-- some day I hope to get a hold of it. It's amusing to keep bumping into reference all the time while pining to play it XD "wounds heal at the same rate, and ages like everyone else" wost kind of mortality ever lol, he really shouldn't have challenged Death! D:

Love the deep colors in this piece, nice little bit of lighting too. I suppose the symbolism in the piece-- the floating stone and stairs would be better understood if I'd played the game. It looks very neat though!

In the comic it was based on, Chakan is always in a state of regret that he did such an arrogant thing.

Thanks! It does make more sense if you play the game, but is mostly just a visual thing. The stage select for the game takes place on floating brick platforms and such. It really is one of the coolest looking games from that era.

There is a comic?! I am going to have to hunt that down!
Ah I see, definitely will have to get a hold of it so I can enjoy the visuals, that is always my favorite thing from games-- the elements that make up the world it's set in. Thanks for sharing this with me

I think the creator, Robert Krauss, has an ebay page where he's selling them pretty cheaply. They're not the best drawn, but the guy does have talent. I actually prefer the look of the game.

No problem!

LOVE the colors. Especially the floating fragment on the upper left and the shine on his sword.

I do not know the Chakan character, but he looks an awful lot like Solomon Kane.

He sure did. Also looked like Van Helsing and Vampire Hunter D, haha. Pretty cool character though, great looking game.

Yeah, much like Conan of Cimmeria, everyone likes to make cookie-cutter clones of the works of Robert E. Howard.

Chakan was a little different anyway, It was kind of a blend of Sword and Sorcery with Sci-Fi, also the character looks super old and wrinkled, but I agree.
