Description First prize art for =coNstantine2530 for winning my contest! Here's her winning entry: [link]

She asked for King Edmund as a teenager riding past the lake in the winter (because, as she pointed out, Narnia still got winter... just not all the time anymore...)

A few notes about the horse: The reason he has Disney-fied eyes is because he's an intelligent talking horse. It's also the reason he has no bit in his mouth... bridles were probably there for stability of the rider, but Ed could just say, "Hey man, let's go this way," and the horse'd be like "Mmk." There's also more gentle guiding with shifting of weight and leg signals. Bits would probably be sort of insulting.

I really liked doing this piece, especially because I just rewatched Prince Caspian, and even though the movie isn't out of this world, it did remind me that Edmund is so awesomely hardcore.

As much as I don't like having pics with watermarks on them, it makes it more special for the winner to have the only unmarked copy... otherwise anybody could have the same picture.

This is great! And they do have bridles without bits, they're called hackamores. They're usually for horses with sensitive mouths or just can't handle a bit. I've ridden several horses that wear hackamores.

Aw, this looks so lovely. I love how you drew Edmund. And I like that you gave the horse Disney-fied eyes.
This looks wonderful. ]:3

In Xanth, a less well-known but equally awesome magical world, a bit is extremely insulting to the Night Mare. I love Piers Anthony, he's a ridiculously clever writer. That's just what I thought of when I read the bit about the bit. Anyway, love Ed (who got super duper smexy as the books continued) and love the art. Woot!

wonderful!! Have you read The Horse and His Boy (also by Lewis) I thinks that's the best representation of the relationship between a Narnia horse and his rider. You did pretty spot on!!

Yeah, I actually really like the Horse and His Boy, even though it's the most hated-on book of the series. I liked the Silver
Chair a lot less than tHaHB.

Wow is that book the most hated. Ha ha it is my favorite! Actually I find the other ones a little hard to get through. Great horse. I'm glad you drew Edmond...I love how his character progresses in the novels.

I know, right? He's so lost and desperate in LW&W, and then by the time Dawn Treader rolls around he's a mature, almost mentor-like character.

Yeah, exactly. I didn't love the last movie but I did like how they portrayed Edmund in it.

This is so win. (The coincidence is scary. I was totally going to request Edmund if I had won)

I love that horse, you can tell he's intelligent. And Edmund is adorable
