OMG! So good! I wish this was true!
Damn you Showtime and John Logan for not pursuing this farther!

S3 did NOT have enough Lyle.
It also had way too much of everyone else.

Totally agree.
Yes, too much of everything and nothing in S3. Especially last two episodes, which I'm trying to forget.

"Cursed be thy name" from Ethan's edgy version of Grace Before Meals is right up there with "Bad Poussey" from Game of Thrones on the list of "Terrible Dialogue in an otherwise Great Series", I think.

I'm not watching GOT, but I know what you mean. And it's not only example of bad writing, there's more bad lines through S3. Such a shame for such a amazing show.

Definitely. If you didn't notice about halfway through S3 John Logan stops writing and then he returns on the last episode.

Oh, I did notice that, ofc.
And I wish he didn't return on the last episode. IMO, for entire show it would be better if it was cancelled than ruined like that. It's just doesn't seem fair to show's standard to be so low and to end it in that unacceptable way.

When I suggest it to others, I will tell them to stop at Season 2 Finale. Even that split-apart half-ending was better resolution.

Agree. Although, S3 had some amazing moments, such as an episode "A Blade of Grass", which reminded as of show's high standards and why we all like it in the first place.
And, personally, I don't have a problem with most of S3 episodes (along with occasionally suspicious script), except the end of episode 7, and following episodes 8 and 9. That's when the collapse started, and the two last episodes was simply embarrassing.
S2 was magnificent. And that split apart ending was just pointed for something even more serious in the years to come.
Sadly, it turns out it become slap in the face to all the fans of the show.

Well, it has that feeling.
So vast and huge in the beginning of the season, and then in the few last episodes everything is so rushed and wrap up that you must ask yourself: 'Is this the same show I've been watching?'
And, not just that. There's so many new and interesting characters (along with the old characters), but it seems they just didn't know what to do with them. They appeared here and there, but not enough to fill the gaps and tell stories of their own.
That's what bothering me the most. Dorian, Dr. Jekyll, Catriona, Kaetenay, Lyle and many more...all of this characters could be used much better and cleverer than it was in S3. So many stories to be told, so many questions which requires answers.
Also, I think that for this kind of a story they need do make 13 episodes per season at least. S1 - 8 episodes, S2 - 10 episodes, and S3 - 9 episodes. Now, where's the logic here? Just look at the "Hannibal". 3 seasons with 13 episodes per season. My kind of a show. Btw, if you didn't watch it, you have my high recommendation. It's something closest to Penny Dreadful approach I've ever seen.
Ah, the ending. Personally, I don't have anything against sad ending and Miss Ives death...eventually, I think we'll all agree that it's inevitable. But not so soon, and not with that low level scenario.
