Dan is a natural hard worker, and is well known for pushing himself until he gets a task done. Although extremely enthusiastic about topics he enjoys, he can often appear uninterested in mundane tasks and structured work. The best way to keep his attention is to get him working on something he loves.

Perhaps because of his hard working nature, Dan is prone to being hasty; always running around, trying to get as much done as possible. Because of this, he is prone to burning out, and he often needs a day or two to recharge his batteries and get back to full power. His hastiness has also made him rather clumsy, and he has been known to trip over his own feet while on the job.

Despite his flaws, Dan is gentle-hearted, and always means well. Although a great fan of battling, he knows when to quit, and always puts his Pokémon's needs before his own.

History
Having been raised in the mining town of Oreburgh, Dan has always been a lover of the earth and it's buried treasures. Spending countless hours in the mines and underground as a child, he became familiar with the concept of fossils at a very early age, and remained fascinated throughout his life. Unlike most, he didn't leave on his Pokémon journey at the age of 10, and instead chose a more academic path in an attempt to learn more about the Pokémon buried beneath the earth. Studying under both Byron and Roark, he soon found his calling in Fossil restoration, and was transferred to a restoration facility in Canalave at the age of 18. Through his time there, he befriended a juvenile Aerodactyl, Harland, who would later become his starter Pokémon. After a year's internship at the facility, he left to follow his dream of becoming a Field Palaeontologist.

After spending a few years working in the field, mainly in the deserts of Hoenn and the restoration centre of Kalos, Dan retired his field team of Pokémon, who are currently enjoying a well earned break for all their hard work, and decided to take a vacation to Alola to study Alolan Variants of Pokémon. He now specialises in relaxing on the Challenger Isle beaches with his two Alolan Aerodactyl, Pohaku and his son, Ho'okele; Choux, the lazy Alolan Raichu; and Scratchy, one of his oldest friends, taking up battles whenever the occasion arises.

Pokémon TeamPlease note that all Pokémon in Dan's team have the capability of using all of the moves of their species (e.g. Pohaku & Ho'okele can use all moves learnt by Aerodactyl in-game), but for ease their favoured moves have been listed. Bio: Dan's first companion in the Alola region. Gifted to him from good friend Kibs to allow further study on Alolan variations. Pohaku is very gentle and relaxed, enjoying nothing more than sunbathing on the beaches; as such, he is rarely used in battles nowadays, but in his prime he won many rounds at the Battle Tree.
Noteable Markings: Slightly pinker than most Aerodactyl. Wears a lei around neck. Prominent fishing teeth. AS OF 10/04/16 - 3 scars on snout from Dustin Fultz's Heatmor.

Bio: Unlike his father, Ho'okele lives for the heat of the moment, and shines in his battles. Energetic and fesity, he's not a Dactyl to mess with on the battlefield. Because of his feisty personality, he can often come across as headstrong and boisterous, but, like his trainer, his heart is in the right place.
Notable Markings: None. Wears a black & gold leather collar with room for a Mega Stone if & when he decides to try mega evolution.

Favoured Moveset: Nuzzle, Super Fang, Play Rough, Volt Tackle.
Held Item: Sitrus Berry (In small pouch around neck.)
Bio: Found curled up in Dan's dig supply bag, the tiny Pokémon soon become a fond favourite on the palaeotologist's team. Hasty, clumsy and playful, Dan saw a lot of himself in the little mouse, and after a few weeks of travelling together, Aki willingly allowed herself to be captured. Her favourite space to rest is in Dan's nest of hair Although small, Aki is a sucker for heated battles, and often throws herself into far more danger than any of her larger companions ever would.
Notable Markings: None. Wears a hibiscus flower behind her left ear.

Favoured Moveset: Psychic, Thunderbolt, Light Screen, Reflect.
Held Item: Aloraichunium Z
Bio: Gifted to Dan by his partner Jasper as a Pichu, Choux was a constant travelling companion around the islands of Alola. Gentle-hearted and lazy, Choux is the definition of "chill". In battle, he can attack quickly if needs be, but prefers to set up his screens to put himself at ease before attacking at a leisurely pace.
Notable Markings: White cheeks, distinct white and brown freckling on face.

Held Item: Charcoal
Bio: One of Dan's oldest companions, second only to Harland; Scratchy was received as a "starter" Pokémon from Professor. Sycamore during Dan's time in Kalos. Scratchy is bold, determined and stubborn. Out of all of Dan's current Pokémon, Scratchy is the one who enjoys battles the most. Gets on very well with Ho'okele.
Notable Markings: None. Has a distinct tooth that juts out of his lower jaw on his left side.
