Description My most recent sewing project. I created this bodice to wear at various festivals where my bellydance troupe will be performing in the fall. The bodice is black suede on one side and black/gold/purple brocade on the other. I used Butterick 4669 as a basis but shortened the pattern considerably to make the bodice more suited to bellydancing and also made some modifications so that it would be totally reversible instead of having the lining fabric visible on the front of the suede as binding.

Anyhow - this is it and i <3 it. It has a few problems but certainly gets the job done

I am totally in love with this. This is what I want to wear to Ren Fest. If only I was a better sewer!

And yeah! to find a fellow belly dancer!

It's definitely an awesome Ren Faire style outfit. As soon as i was done with it i wanted to wear it somewhere and now i have to wait This really wasn't difficult to make. There were some hurdles but the pattern was very understandable and easy to follow. I encourage you to give it a try. Only, if you use this pattern remember that i made some alterations in order to acheive the finished product (such as shortening it and using the outside fabric as binding rather than the lining fabric).

I am always happy to meet fellow dancers and discuss all things bellydance

See, I'm not very good with patterns. I think I just get frustrated with them too easily. It doesn't help that I don't really have a "proper" space for it.

How long have you been belly dancing?

I can understand your hesitancy b/c of the lack of space. I don't have a sewing room either and when i do sew my entire living and dining room are covered with pieces of fabric, pieces of pattern, pins, etc.

I've been bellydancing for about a year and eight months now. I love it It's a great artistic outlet, great exercise and i get to meet the most interesting people while doing it! How about yourself?

I've only been belly dancing for about 9 months. I've wanted to do it for ever but I finally found a teacher in my area and then realized there are alot of belly dancers here. I love going to class because I always end up feeling good afterwards.

Thanks! I love both sides - I get twice the wear out of one garment
