I got this gown the same day i got the other wedding gown in my gallery. It really reminds me of Sarah's ballgown from Labyrinth (excpet not quite as poofy and sparkly sadly). I also love the look of having ribbons around the arms like this...i constantly draw them on my characters but i've actually never just went to the store and bought them for myself. So - i bought some ribbon today and here's the result.

You know your poses and costumes are some of my favorites, I just hope that you can get a better camera soon. There is a lot of grain on your skin.... I just love your stocks so much

DelightfulStock In reply to Della-Stock [2006-11-29 18:28:14 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much Della I really appreciate the compliment - especially coming from you. As far as the grain is concerned - i think it may be more a function of me not knowing how to properly utilize my camera's capabilities. It isn't a crappy camera (it's a Sony Cybershot 7.2 mp) but i think there are things i could do to make it produce better photos. Perhaps i can find someone around here who is familiar with the model that might be able to advise me. I find that i don't have the time/patience to read the manual and translate it to my particular needs. Maybe i could also do something with my lighting scheme.

It could be that your ISO is too high. I get grain that way. I haven't used a Sony, but I've used an Olympus and a smaller Canon... its a digital elf. So if you need any help, I might be able to help you figure out the settings

I will probably drop you a line around mid-December after my break from school starts and i have time to fiddle with the camera. I would definitely appreciate any advice you could give me. I usually keep my ISO at 100 (which is the lowest the camera goes) so i'm not sure that's the entire cause of the grain.

Hmm...i think the ribbons would definitely look nice with a black dress. I would actually consider dying this dress black but i need to think about that before i decide to do it
You should learn to sew! Then you would have fabulous costumes

angelusmusicus-stock In reply to DelightfulStock [2006-05-11 18:31:05 +0000 UTC]

They do look great When I used them, we used a little bit of double sided sticky tape at the top to help keep them up It wasn't perfect, but it helped

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DelightfulStock In reply to angelusmusicus-stock [2006-05-12 20:35:48 +0000 UTC]

Oooh...good idea I've only ever used double-sided tape to stick fake leaves to my body but i didn't think of doing the same with the ribbons!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

angelusmusicus-stock In reply to DelightfulStock [2006-05-12 20:55:23 +0000 UTC]

The thing was, every time she relaxed her muscles, her arms got that tiniest bit thinner, so the ribbons wouldn't stay. Tape was the only solution What did you use the leaves for?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DelightfulStock In reply to angelusmusicus-stock [2006-05-12 21:06:39 +0000 UTC]

Yep...it is quite a good solution and i'll definitely keep it in mind for my next foray into the realm of ribbons
I used the leaves for a series of photos for - an example of one of his works using those photos is here: [link]

Oh, thats lovely! ^^ And as for the Labyrinth dress, I don't think one really exists-sadly- but this one is still pretty, and the arm ribbons are indeed nifty ^^

DelightfulStock In reply to NKHeart [2006-05-06 06:34:05 +0000 UTC]

You know...i happened upon a seamstress that has made the Labyrinth dress for herself while surfing the web the other night and i thought she did a pretty good job: [link]

But yeah...without commissioning one i think this comes pretty close I'm glad you like the ribbons. I think they add something unique to the dress
