Could be
But here’s an idea, do an extended version of the movie and do an alternate scene in it, Ben lives.

They were playing to the four decades worth of fans rather than creating a coherent and satisfying ending to a trilogy. None of the plot threads went anywhere, and the action sequences and constant blaster fire just bled into each other after a while. The one thing I liked? Rey's burial ceremony with Luke and Leia's lightsabers, signifying the end of their story and the start of hers.

The nine movie saga was ruined by this one film, in addition to the individual trilogy itself. You don't kill off iconic characters and have their "becoming part of the force" mean nothing. The only place where this was successful was Luke's death, projecting himself across the galaxy to provide Leia and the rebels time to get away in "The Last Jedi".
Going with the fact that she was Palpatine's granddaughter was too simple a plot device in my mind. To make it more meaningful, they should have had her be the granddaughter of Obi Wan "Ben" Kenobi, as he was definitely on that planet long enough to have a family while waiting for Luke to grow up. Still, I like the fact that our spiritually handicapped, physically capable heroine didn't end up with a love interest at the end and made a continued commitment to know herself after the final battle was done. Knowing oneself is key to finding ways to defeat the real inner monsters of doubt, jealousy, sadness, and most of all fear, all feelings that the Sith prey on when looking for new puppets to control.
