I am not an owner yet, but I am a member of the local DeLorean Club. Maybe you could join one and make friends with some owners? They would at least give you a ride in one.

What an awesome car the DeLorean. I think it is a shame about the founder being allegedly connected to drug smuggling. I don't know how true that was. Can you just imagine how awesome the car could have been in its progression over the years had DeLorean not been shut down?

John DeLorean was a car genius. GM wouldn't listen to him, so he left. Perhaps GM wouldn't be in the mess they are in had they listen to Delorean. He had a lot of great idea's, like making cars easier for the shade-tree mechanic to work on.
I am not sure what happened. The British Government was quick to shut him down and make sure he could never reopen the DeLorean plant. For example, they took all the panel dies, they used to stamp out the panels and doors, and dropped them in the ocean.
It is a interesting story. I hope they make a movie about it one day.
John was a tragic hero in the classic Greek sense.

I see. Understand that I knew very little about him when I posted my initial comment. You have helped educate me a little. And I would love to see a movie about him and his plant.

The test track is still there. They do a Delorean Euro-fest there every couple of years and some owners take their Deloreans around the old test track. I would love to do that.

What background have you decided to add to this one? Whatever it is, I am sure it will be perfect.

I was thinking sunbeams shining through clouds, with rain puddles on the ground.

The rain puddles sound intriguing. I love how people can make them so lifelike & reflective.

I recently saw a watercolor where someone did puddles perfectly, but I no longer remember who???
has great skill in doing water scenes but he hasn't been on in ages & I don't think he did any puddles.
Should be interesting trying something new & challenging.

Drool! Great pic! You know, My D is getting a lot of admiring glances here in Arkansas, but the one downside is the tons of bugs splatting thermselves on the front grille! Looks like the DMC grille logo is attracting more than human attention!

LOL.
I don't think there are very many DeLoreans in Arkansas.

What would be even cooler would be a pic of a D with two scantilly clad bikini models (big-breasted of course) posing with it...

Fantastic. I want one of these so bad.... the car. Not the print. Not that I don't think it's good, as I said at the beginning of the comments: fantastic.

As far as collector cars go, they are fairly affordable. Unfortunately, I don't have an extra 15 to 20 grand to buy one right now.

I got my 'D' on ebay. A 1983 model (actually August 12982, but it's classified as an '83). Anyway, ebay motors might be your best bet, but avoid those D's made before June 1981...
