Description
Looking due east from Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho, Big Southern Butte stands as a remnant of the land's history of volcanism. It's actually two old lava domes that grew together to look like a single cone. The landscape here is black and rocky, at times looking an awful lot like the surface of the Moon.Related content
