New Version:
As you can tell, I'm extremely excited about the new Hoenn remakes! The 3rd gen games were fantastic for me, and I can't wait to re-explore them in 3D. In celebration, I decided to try my hand at making a fake cover-art for what an Emerald remake might look like.
I noticed in the ORAS cover arts, Groudon and Kyogres' anatomy wasn't changed that much (if at all), but their markings definitely were, so that's what I tried to pull off here. Rayquaza is my favorite out of the trio, and has been one of my favorite Pokemon ever since I encountered my first one in Ruby many years ago.
I do hope these games are good, though- and I hope they improve on some of RSE's shortcomings, as well.

I made this the day after ORAS was announced, I had no knowledge of the Delta Episode or anything like that by then. Either way, if you read the artist's comments I put, you would know that I remade this after Mega Rayquaza was officially announced. Here's the updated version I drew, which I highly prefer to this one-

I drew this very fast the day after ORAS was first released, so there are many mistakes and design flaws. I am going to make a proper version of a possible Primal Rayquaza soon.

So now that we know that the forms are Primal Reversions or whatever, are you gonna redraw a bigger pic of Primal Rayquaza? Maybe a cave carving like that of the screenshots on the site? This looks beyond amazing by the way.

Apparently, a trademark for Delta Emerald has been found, so I'm curious to know as to how Delta Rayquaza will work out...

It's most likely that Delta Emerald being trademarked is just Nintendo trying to prevent bootlegs/scams, similar to how they trademarked Water Blue and Grey in the past. But a Delta Rayquaza would definitely be cool, I may try to doodle up some concepts for one.

This looks amazing, not a better word than amazing! Love how the markings are glowing and how you definitely followed the original boxes by the book

That would make no sense, as Chaos isn't a letter in the Greek Alphabet like Alpha and Omega are. The reason I chose Theta for the title was because I could work the Greek symbol for Theta into Rayquaza’s markings fairly well, similar to the Alpha/Omega symbols in Groudon/Kyogres' new markings.
Theta also has ties with sky/space and serpents in mythology, which does made sense when tied with Rayquaza.

There is actually much more to it. Each of the three pokemon have meanings behind them, and had symbols placed on them before the remakes were made. Kyogre is based on water, and water gives life. Therefore, the symbol of alpha was given to him to show that he is the begining, as alpha is the begining of the greek alphabet. Groudon is drought, and drought brings death. This is why he has the symbol omega, meaning the end as it is the end of the alphabet. Together, they are the alpha, and the omega, or rather, the begining and the end. Rayquaza must fit into this somehow right? Egyptians used the symbol of an x with a circle around it to represent the soul or the afterlife. This circle with the x inside is an early version of theta. The soul fits perfectly into the original two's meanings as well, as the soul or afterlife is the bridge between life and death. In addition, egyptians used a symbol for kosmos (or cosmos) in the form of a theta. The circle was the world, and the line through it was a serpent, which Rayquaza represents.

That is why I ended up choosing Theta, haha. I just shortened my description of the Egyptian myths as to not bore people. It is definitely interesting, though- and it makes me wonder if they will end up making a Theta-based form for Rayquaza in ORAS.
